Events Calendar  The Windy City Cycling Club (WCCC) is a predominantly lesbian and gay recreational club whose main purpose is to use the bicycle as a means of staying in shape, getting outdoors, and socializing with other members. The group holds rides every Saturday as well as special rides and events throughout the season from April until mid-October.

The club has been active since 1992 and currently has over 120 members. The $25.00 annual membership dues includes a subscription to the newsletter and other benefits. Membership is not necessary for participation in any club ride or event. Helmets are strongly recommended for all club rides.

The Saturday ride meets at 10 a.m. at the Totem Pole in Lincoln Park (end of Addison avenue.) The riders generally head south along the lakefront to the east side of Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park where they will meet up with the "Southerners" at 10:30 a. m. Then the ride continues south, following the bike path all the way to Hyde Park for a breakfast stop before returning to Lincoln Park. This is a leisurely 30-mile round-trip ride for bikers at all levels and generally takes 45 minutes each way, not including the breakfast stop.

We also have a few off-roaders in the group. Off-roading (otherwise known as mountain biking) has been steadily gaining in popularity over the last decade or so.  WCCC is sponsoring two mountain bike rides this summer, and hopefully more next summer.  If you are interested in this type of riding, see the schedule for August and September.

During the Winter, the WCCC organizes other sportive activities, such as spinning, skiing, bowling, ice skating, and various social events. Please check our calendar for details.
